By: David E. Guest Human resource management (HRM) comprises a set of policies designed to maximize organizational integration, employee commitment, flexibility and quality of work. Within this model, collective industrial relations have, at best, only a minor role. Despite the apparent attractions of HRM to managements, there is very little evidence of any quality about its impact. Furthermore very few UK organizations appear to practise a distinctive form of HRM, although many are moving slowly in that direction through, for example, policies of employee involvement. http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/119470885/abstract?CRETRY=1&SRETRY=0 -----I don't agree with him that There is a "little evidence of any quality" about its impact, because the impact of HRM in this generation is really effective. By:Ryan Allis Personnel management is concerned with the effective use of the skills of people. They may be salespeople in a store, clerks in an office, operators in...

Interview a personnel/human resource manager on his concept on the nature, scope and role of human resource management

Yesterday evening, I interviewed a personnel working at Davao Security and Investigation Agency. This person told me that human resource management is like the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of a company. All the files of the employee were properly managed and kept, like the file 201. Human resource management knows most of all the files of the company like payroll, hiring, appointments, memorandums, benefits, salary increase, etc. Later on he told me that their company is different from other companies, in their company the HR is under the administration not like in the companies that have another department as HR. In their company the executive secretary is directly connected to the president. the executive secretary holds the files like memorandums, hiring, appointments and other documents. It made me compare their company to our adopted company..... Actually when we visited our company two months ago there was a short discussion about the nature, scope and role of the human resourc...

Identify at least 3 areas related to Human Resource Mangement and explain how these areas can improve our quality of life.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo had her State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July 28, 2008. The 3 areas related to Human Resource Management: *Training: Training for vocational and technical courses that more than one million graduated. Also had a training partnership with the private sector. People are trained to work as a call center agent, medical transcription, animation and software developer, which have a demand of one million workers by 2010. *Health Insurance: Important program for hospitalization and other health benefits. Health insurance protect people from the high cost of medical care by providing coverage for specific health care services. Also to provide payment for overpriced/ expensive health care. *Seminars: Seminars promoting family planning Campaign to spread the awareness of responsible parenthood The purpose of the seminars is to slow down the population growth- (one of the reasons of the poverty). Human beings are the most important, potent & critical, resource of any organization, & yet the least understood & the worst managed of its resources

Image
_____Among the living things in this world, humans have a highly developed brain. We are the most important because we have the ability to think, decide, manage, communicate, discover, and create. We lead and dominate the world, that’s why an organization cannot be an organization without people (who plan, manage, work, process, etc.). _____We are the least understood because sometimes we believe on what we think is correct. Worst managed of its resources because we have our own points of view, decisions, and theories, each of us don’t want to be under the control of others. _____Unlike computers and other high technologies today that absolutely follow every command when we manipulate them. That’s why corporations today use technologies because it is fast, it can satisfy and so easy to manage. VISIT: http://rosemiepn.blogspot.com/ AND LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS… THANKS!!!

Why do you think HRM is included in the BSCS/BSIT curriculum?

Image
___ HRM is management of people or humans and its resources. The courses BSIT and BSCS provide the needs of the people, enhancing things to ease the work of the people. ___ HRM is included in the BSCS/BSIT curriculum because it enhances our skills and knowledge useful for developing and operating a business. In our school, the BSIT included HRM in the curriculum while the BSCS did not. That made me think that maybe BSCS don't have HRM subject because IT is more on people ware, it deals more with people while CS deals more with computers. But that's only in our school; maybe in other schools they included HRM in the curriculum of BSIT, BSCS, and other related courses. ___ Today's generation always rely on high technologies that are manage by professionals and soon by us. Having a HRM subject helps a lot to make us a good boss someday.

What do you think will the 21st -century corporations look like?

Image
Today, most of all the corporations or should i s ay all of the corporat ions cannot func tion well without the computers and the newly created technologies. And because of these "high tech" things, it can make their work faster and more organized than manual. Soon, it looks like computers will take over the job of some people. Like for example, our education, I can imagine that later on, students will attend their classes not in the classrooms anymore but by only facing in the computer, they can learn exactly the same way like going to school everyday like we are doing today. No need to worry on your fare in the PUV or oil price hike if you have car. It does not matter anymore if you live in Philippines, Mexico, US or other places in the world because it is also possible that your classmates can be in the other side of the world. No need to travel far to learn because it is just a one click away. The technology today is getting better and better and soon i...

Yahoo Downsizing in the United States

Image
Yahoo Downsizing in the United States Downsizing at Yahoo have been doing the rounds since Terry Semel (former CEO since 2001) left Yahoo last June 2007. Co-founder Jerry Yang, the interim CEO, no doubt would like to save as many jobs as possible. He has promised to focus on three objectives: Becoming a starting point for consumers on the Web; Making the company a top choice for marketers seeking to place ads on sites across the Web; And opening Yahoo’s technology infrastructure to third-party programmers and publishers. Cause of downsizing: * To reduce costs and narrow its focus to its most important businesses * Yahoo shares fell more than 10 percent, to levels of more than three years ago. * Yahoo was planning to expand its base in India. Yahoo has begun narrowing the focus of its portal on a few key areas, including its front page, the personalized home page service MyYahoo, search, mail, and properties like news, finance and sports. Improvements to those s...

Good day!
